Lead Developer

Job Description

Are you an experienced developer looking for a new project you can own and grow from greenfield to scale? Are you interested in working with some of the best technology enterpreneurs and developers through the Apps for Good Expert Community? We are looking for a new Lead Developer to lead and grow our technology team.

Responsibilities

60% Back-end, 40% Front-end, with future management responsibility

Practicalities

  • Salary: £40-59k, subject to experience
  • Based in Shoreditch/ London
  • Flexibility to work from home part of the time
  • For the right person, we would also consider a pro-rata part-time employment

Technology

  • Experience developing in Ruby on Rails (preferred), Python, Java, PHP, or any scripting/dynamic language
  • Solid experience using SQL and NoSQL databases like MySQL (preferred), Postgres, Mongo DB, Cassandra, Redis
  • Mobile (Android/iOS) experience a big plus.

Skills

  • Referenceable experience of building, deploying and scaling production commercial high traffic web applications
  • Excellent Software Development skills (3-4 years minimum)
  • Proven experience with evolutionary design
  • Creative, resourceful and innovative problem solver
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to facilitate communication within and between engineering and business teams
  • Ability to translate technical requirements to business audience and business requirements to technical audience
  • Promoter of agile development techniques
